If you would like to be able to charge your EV when you’re out and about, you will need to join one or more public charging networks.
There are two types of network. The first is the gonvernment-funded Plugged in Places networks. For areas not covered by a Plugged in Places network, POD Point runs the Open Network.

Plugged in Places
The first step is to find out if you are in a Plugged in Places region. The map below shows active regions in green, regions expected to “go live” in 2012 in grey. Typically, you will pay an annual membership fee of about £50 to £100, which will give you access to free charging (and often parking) at all charge bays in the scheme.

The POD Point Open Network
If you are not in a Plugged in Places region, you may benefit from joining the POD Point Open Network, so that you can use charge points near you that are part of the POD Point Open Network.
Membership costs just £15, and this includes:
- an RFID tag, providing access to all charge points that are part of the Open Network
- a user login account where you can view your usage profile
- call centre support line in case of any charging problems
You can also view all charge points on the network on the Live Availability map.
You can purchase membership to the POD Point Open Network on our webshop.
